The Inviting Light team invites you to a Community Light Walk throughout the Charles North and Greenmount West neighborhood of the Station North Arts District as part of Station North’s monthly Second Friday Art Walks! We’ll gather at Club Car at 7:30pm (feel free to come earlier for a drink!) for a short orientation and Inviting Light project updates, then head out for our community light walk at 8:00pm. (Sunset is 8:10pm). We’ll end around 9:00pm in the Greenmount West neighborhood to see two light installations (aka: make sure you have a buddy to walk back to your car or another art walk location).

Schedule on Friday, May 9

  • 7:30 pm: Meet at Club Car (12 W North Ave)
  • 8:00 pm: Leave Club Car (a 1-mile, hour-long walking tour with four Inviting Light sites in Charles North and two Signal Station North light installations in Greenmount West)
  • 9:00pm: End at Wonderground Park, Lanvale and Barclay in Greenmount West
It will be dark by 8:00pm, please dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes. We will be walking at a leisurely pace, stopping at each site to share info, and observing light along our path.

Background on Inviting Light:

Earlier this year, Baltimore City was awarded a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to produce Inviting Light, an ambitious public art project selected for the Bloomberg Public Art Challenge which supports selected projects with a $1M grant and other in kind marketing and mentorship support.

Inviting Light is energizing the Station North Arts District with five outdoor site installations curated by Derrick Adams and a year of scheduled events and arts programming curated by José Ruiz for the community to enjoy. Learn more about each installation here.

Inviting Light is sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and facilitated by Central Baltimore Partnership in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and Senior Advisor for Arts & Culture and the Neighborhood Design Center.
